T-shirt re-vampin'

For Easter my mom gave Dawson & Carter cute striped tee's. They are totally cute on thier own, but they posed as the perfect canvas for something creative.  Upon my craft blog surfing I found a cute idea...cut up old shirts and make up something fun... SO I did! Of course Dawson helped me with the design, he wanted a "super-awesome-cool spaceship!" Carter's was a little less complex, mosly because he wanted 13 different things on his shirt. I did a simple argyle pattern, cut out of a pair of shorts that he ruined last summer. I think both of them sported the shirts so well!

I found 2 shirts sitting in his closet, one was too small and the other had fallen victim to some fruit punch stains. I drew the shapes of the ship onto a piece of paper and then traced them onto the different pieces of fabric. Then carefully went around each shape, sewing it to the black square. Within 25 mintues this cute project was complete! 

Easter beam!

This Easter was particularly special around our house. For the first time in a few years, all of my siblings are in one state again! We took advantage of the situation and had everyone over for a day of fun and food. The day started with kids running around, adults talking and stuffing 200 eggs full of candy. Lunch was proceeded by a fantastic Easter Egg hunt. The snow and rain let up for the perfect amount of time on Saturday and the kids and a good time gathering eggs in the backyard.

After the egg hunt was over, the four oldest grandkids were put on a scavenger hunt to some places close to home. Each child got to hop out of the car and go find their clue which led us to another fun destination. The last clue led the kids to the church, where my dad told the kids about the Savior's sacrifice and last days on Earth. They answered all the questions he asked them and I think they really had a different perception of the Holiday.

After he was done, each of the kids got a special treat from Gramma and Papa and we headed back to the house for more FUN! Shane (my oldest brother) brought some hard boiled eggs for the kids to color. In true Shane fashion, he made up his own recipe for egg dye and they turned out AWESOME!

The colors were so bright and fun! The rest of the day was spent making fantastic food and being together. the 9 grandkids all play so great together and their laughter and squeels filled the house all afternoon. On Easter morning, Jason got up and made a delicious breakfast for everyone and we enjoyed watching the snowfall (okay, not really, but it is what it is). We LOVED conference and really felt the spirit as we listened to the incredible talks. It was a pretty wonderful weekend! Not to mention the fact, I've probably eaten my weight in Reese's peanut butter cups!
