The boys. Oh the joys.

The last few weeks have kind of been a blur. I just see toilets, the inside of my eyelids and on certain occasions, the boys running into my room with their latest drawing, messes on their hands or sometimes just to wake me up and say, "Hi Mom." Not going to pretend like I haven't been sleeping most of the last few weeks, either. I have been. But if sleeping in the only way to keep my lunch down, then so be it.

Upon my afternoon jaunt around the house, mostly to make an assessment of the messes that have occurred during my slumber, I tend to find the same messes, in the same places, almost as if the boys set the same scene everyday.

Our typical scenario.

1. The rug upon which our great room sofa is positioned perfectly in front of the t.v., there are bags of cereal, partially spilled and ground into the threads of the rug. Approximately 4 sippy cups, half full of various liquids leaking out of them. Blankets, action figures and socks are thrown about. If they've really had fun- wrappers of fruit by the foot and granola bars are sporadically tossed about the room too.

2. Kids bathroom is covered in blue sparkly tooth paste and the dental floss is pulled out wrapped around a member of the Toy Story bunch, hanging from the bathroom cabinet. Little boy pee is usually spotted around the brim of the toilet- courtesy of Carter. LOTS of toilet paper has been unraveled and piled into the trash can, which as I've been told is a slide for the dental floss encased Buzz Lightyear.

3. Carter's bedroom is predictable. The comforter is pulled off and the sheets are on their way off as well. They've obviously been bouncing on the bed. Upon further investigation I find saltine cracker crumbs on his pillow and stuffed animals...and not only were they munching as they bounced, but the swift action of the humidifier fan has served as a propelling agent in their quest to launch cracker crumbs all over the room. Yup. cracker crumbs in the humidifier. I again, assume Carter was the mastermind behind that one.

4. Dawson's room is also nothing short of a shock. Millions of McDonald's toys have been catapulted from one side of the room to the other, taking along puzzle pieces, broken crayon bits and makeshift paper airplanes along with them. The blindes are pulled halfway up the window and green army men are holding the left behind Princess toy, hostage along the window seal. Books have been opened and left on floor. 4-5 outfit changes are slewn across the bed and his beloved stuffed animals are huddled in the corner, waiting for the green army men to give up the princess.

5. The basement has been turned upside down. Thats the best description I can give. Indiana Jones 2 is being played on the Play Station and both boys are glued to the screen. The puppy has chewed up toilet paper at their feet and more wrappers from their findings in the pantry also lie crumpled on the floor.

This is just a few hours of fun at our house. I sincerely hope the morning sickness subsides and I can get back to my preventative mess- making parenting. Jason is awesome when he gets home, however. He whips the boys into shape and the house is back to normal in a matter of minutes. How LUCKY AND BLESSED I am to have him.

My plea:
The next few months...please come soon...and leave your puke, fatigue and messy rooms behind!

Um...this sounds like exactly what is going on at our house. Just swap the two boys with two girls, the action figures with barbies and dress-ups, and the boy pee for girl pee. AAhh!! Wishing you (well both of us) lots of luck and here's to surviving this first trimester! :)

That Is how I felt when I was pregnant with Adalyn! The only way I got rid of morning sickness was the wonderful drug zophran! That was the only way I survived the entire nine months. Good luck and I hope you get feeling better soon:)
